Overview

Bring your sense of adventure for a 3 hour trek for the tough at heart. 

Designed for both local and visiting urban adventurers who like to shoot things with their camera or who just want to get up close to all those things they’ve seen or heard about but never managed to check out.

The walk may feel like torture as you slog along shadeless roads and up an even more shadeless hill but the sights could quite well inspire an awe that you never thought was possible.  Maybe.

Hopefully you’ll be terribly interested in the history you’ll hear in between trying to get that perfect shot.

What You’ll See

A shadeless road, a shadeless hill, ruins you can’t actually see, roundabouts with art and a washed away bridge that isn’t (now).

Highlights

  • Be amazed at the Lion’s Club monolith and find out why it’s there,
  • Admire the remains of the hill where the tower that gave its name to Torreblanca once sat,
  • Peer through the fence at the remains of the Roman thermal baths,
  • Nod approvingly at the LGBT solidarity installation called the Rainbow Gazebo,
  • Pretend to be awestruck at the current White Tower and admire the base of the Osborne Bull.
  • Savour fantastic views of Fuengirola, Mijas Pueblo, Los Pacos and Torreblanca.
  • Get your camera out for the Sun roundabout, the gateway to Fuengirola,
  • Thrill (or not) as you glimpse the mouth of the Arroyo de Pajares,
  • And as a final treat, boggle at the washed away bridge.

If this doesn’t tempt you, then you have no soul.

Carvajal Railway Station at the Calle la Ladera entrance (bottom of the stairs).

There are 8 stops on this tour:

  • Avenida Carvajal rotunda monolith,
  • Torreblanca Hill,
  • Terminus Romanas ruins,
  • Rotonda de los Colores,
  • Current White Tower and Osborne Bull,
  • Rotunda del Sol,
  • Arroyo de Pajares,
  • The washed away bridge.
  • There will be a maximum of 6 people on the tour.
  • Participants should have a moderate physical fitness level as there’s a 750m uphill walk. (see Difficulty)
  • No children under the age of 13 and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. (see Hazards)
  • Not wheelchair friendly as the paths at the top of the hill are dirt and narrow.
  • The tour starts and ends near public transport.
  • Service animals allowed. (see Hazards).
  • You must be prepared to wear a mask and to social distance as much as is practical to participate in this tour.  See our Covid-19 page for our conditions.
  • A sense of adventure,
  • A hat and sunscreen,
  • A camera or picture taking apparatus if you’re that way inclined,
  • Water,
  • Sturdy walking shoes.

Moderate.

The distance is 3.5km with around 60 minutes of walking between the sites.

Except for when we’re at the top of the hill our tour is on pavements.  However, there’s a couple of steep inclines as we walk from sea level to approx 450m above sea level and the track to the white tower/Osborne Bull is uneven dirt.

Access to the Osborne Bull and Water Tower is via rough footpaths and the top of the hill is not fenced. 

It is safe enough if you don’t stray from the paths.

We will point out the dangers when we arrive but ultimately you are responsible for the safety of yourself, your service animals and your children if you wander from the paths.

  • This tour is occasionally cancelled due to extreme weather.  If it is, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.
  • This tour requires at least 4 customers. If it’s cancelled because the minimum number isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/tour or a full refund.
  • If you cannot attend the tour, you can get a full refund if you contact us at least 24 hours before the tour starts.
